Revision hip replacement

Revision hip replacement is performed when a previous hip prosthesis has failed. During surgery, the damaged prosthesis is removed and a new one is implanted. This procedure can be more complex than a primary replacement due to the presence of scar tissue and poor quality bone.

Total hip replacement surgery is an option to relieve the pain of severe arthritis that limits daily activities. During the procedure, damaged cartilage and bone from the hip joint are removed and replaced with artificial components. These implants can wear out and may need to be replaced through a surgical procedure known as hip replacement revision.

Hip replacement revision is a complex surgical procedure in which all or part of a previously implanted hip joint is replaced with a new artificial hip joint. It is advised for patients with conditions such as increased pain, worn plastic or polyethylene prosthesis, dislocation of previous implants, or loosening of the femoral component.
